Job Title: Maintenance Engineer – Civil Engineering and Building Services

Our Long Products Division has its main UK hub based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. The business produces a wide product range including: sections, plates, wire rod, bar, rail and semi-finished steel. We pride ourselves in manufacturing to the highest quality and supply to our customers worldwide. We are currently undertaking a large engineering recruitment drive for a number of departments at the Scunthorpe plant to help support the efficient and productive operations of the site.
We are currently looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer – Civil Engineering and Building Services to support our Energy Operations & Infrastructure department at our Scunthorpe site. The incumbent of the role will be responsible for the following:
- Managing and promoting a proactive attitude for safety health & environment
- Owning and implementing business standards.
- Helping to train and develop staff and support contractors to provide a techically competent and safety conscious team.
- Own, specify, procure, plan and deliver maintenance work including site supervision.-
- Managing maintenance and service contracts to provide a cost effective civil engineering and building service to plant.
- Managing budgets to agreed values.
- The maintenance of directly owned assets including roads, infrastucture, bridges, landscaped areas, gardens, surface water and foul pumping systems.
- Developing landfill sites.
- Carrying out inspections to concrete structure and bridges to identify maintenance requirements.
- A major aspect of the role is to provide technical support and guidance on a wide range of Civil engineering matters to production, engineering and building manager
- Ability to consult with colleagues at all levels within the organisation and liaise with external organisations is essential.

In order to fulfill the requirements of the role, we would expect you to be qualified to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate Civil engineering discipline and must be (or working towards becoming) a chartered Engineer with significant experience within a heavy industrial manufacturing and engineering environment.
You will possess a thorough understanding and demonstrable application of Civil engineering, project management and have a positive track record of working as part of an engineering team in heavy industrial facilities. We expect the successful applicant to have an understanding of best practice health and safety & environmental management practices and legislative requirements is a pre requisite, as is an understanding of total quality / CI approach to deliver business improvements. Good IT skills are required and a working knowledge of SAP is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided
